Uh... Hi! Remember me?

I've been AWOL for a while... Let me explain...

1. I got addicted to Guild Wars
2. My friend came to visit from overseas
3. I took a few days off from work here and there and ended up swamped every time I went back.
4. We've had rolling blackouts o_O
5. There just aren't enough hours in the day!! T_T

So I was playing catch-up. Still am. *sighs*

Sleep? Food? Who needs them?...

...What I really need is time.

I envy my visiting friend from overseas with her month-long vacation. XD

Right. Better get back to the mountain of work that piled up during my absence.

My new addiction...

...Guild Wars. Yes, it's a MMORPG. (That's a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game for any non-gaming-geeks reading this.) But there's no monthly fee. Yay!! I had to give up Final Fantasy XI because of monthly fees, so when my brother told me about this game, and then let me try his copy, I was happy. I love RPGs, but I'd never tried an online one.

It gave me a rush. A monster bashing, bandit smiting rush. XD

Fansub update: viewing is on hold for all series except Loveless, Hachimitsu to Clover, and GSD while I wrestle with trying to bring my GW addiction under control! o_O

P.S. Kira + Freedom = ownage ^_^

Evidence that I'm not all right in the head...

Which Saiyuki character would sleep with you?

Artbooks are yummy.

Yup. I got tired of seeing all these artbooks in my shopping carts so I ordered a few of 'em:
Fruits Basket
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e
Harukanaru Toki no Naka de
Otogi Zoushi

Then I tossed in some CDs and other items for good measure.

...Guess I won't be spending as much as I usually do at Anime North this year. ^_^;;

My new batch of One Piece figures arrived some time ago, but I never got around to putting up a new pic...
Portrait of Pirates! )

One more thing... Anyone who wants the full version of Rie fu's I Wanna Go to a Place... - GSD ED3, can get it here.

Spring 2005 anime - initial impressions

The new season's started and the fansubs of the first episodes are starting to come out. So far I've only taken in first episodes for The Law of Ueki, Loveless, Sousei no Aquarion, and Speed Grapher...

The Law of Ueki - Paku Romi!! She's Ueki, but she still sounds exactly like Ed. Recognized Kawakami Tomoko as Ueki's schoolmate and friend Ai, and though the mad doctor sounded familiar I couldn't place him. Looks like another shounen action-comedy with a supernatural bent. Ueki has the ability to turn any bit of trash into a tree. A god searching for a champion offered Ueki any of his powers and that's what Ueki chose. The problem is that now he has to fight against other people who have also been granted powers so that one of them may ascend to godhood. I'm keeping this for the next few episodes, if only to hear Paku Romi - I miss Ed.

Loveless - Another female seiyuu playing a young male lead. ^_^ Minagawa Junko! - instantly recognizable since she sounds like a Ryoma filled with enough confusion and vulnerability in his voice to make The Prince of Tennis yaoi fangirls swoon as he's seduced by Soubi. And who can blame him. XD I'm won over. Some help identifying Soubi-sama's seiyuu would be very much appreciated. His voice has that low rumble that makes my knees weak. *discretely wipes drool from chin* (Or maybe it's just the subwoofer at my feet. XD ) But his cool, unflappable demeanor, his confident display of power, and his matter-of-fact declaration that he'd lay down everything for Ritsuka... This one's a keeper. And uh, the spell battle was pretty cool. ^_^
Loveless screenshots )

Sousei no Aquarion - I turned my friend onto this one... the one who likes big giant robots and pretty animation. It's the latest effort from Kawamori Shoji of Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, and RahXephon fame. I didn't pay much attention to this so a second run through is in order, but I think I heard Onosaka Masaya (as Pierre) and Koyasu Takehito (as that weird angelic being that Apollo spoke to in Vector Sol)? There are a lot of references to Roman mythology in the names, and it appears that Apollo and Silvia are the reincarnations of a pair of lovers from the past. How that fits in with battling Fallen Angels and combining Aquarion mecha I have no idea. I have a feeling my curiousity won't last me through the series and I'll be dropping it after a few more episodes. I never have been a huge fan of mecha.

Speed Grapher - This one looks like it'll fill the void left by Gantz. Lots of black & tight-fitting clothing, gouts of blood, copious sexual imagery, and a perverted main character. ^_^;; The only seiyuu I could identify was Koyasu Takehito. He plays the flamboyant, over-zealous dancer with a murderous streak.

Figure Eighths... ^_^;;

Wai!! 1/8 scale Inuyasha & Kagome PVC figures!! Coming out this June... I've got mine pre-ordered. ^_^

June's gonna be a tight month for me since I've also got the second batch of Gundam SEED Destiny Voice I-dolls pre-ordered. This round includes Yzak (Seki Tomokazu), Cagalli (Shindo Naomi - who's also Shizuru in My-Hime!), and Lunamaria (Sakamoto Maaya). I pray next time they'll release Kira (Hoshi Souichiro, Neo (Koyasu Takehito), and Rey (Seki-sama XD~).

I've developed an obsession with 1/8 figures. It started with the One Piece Portrait of Pirates series, grew to include Bleach and now Inu Yasha.

1/8 figures I own or have ordered )

I'd die a happy fangirl if someone made Saiyuki ones. XD~

*runs off to see if the raw for the final episode of My-Hime is up yet*

=_=x

An unwary customer bought bootlegs from a Canadian retail store. (I'm sorry to say that there are an abundance of bootleg-only retailers in my area.) She made a post complaining to that affect on said retail store's forum. This is the response she got:

"...i read the post from october and joined so i could answer your question. the dvds are a re-release done by a contracted company. the dvds are stripped on their original marketing labels (i.e. viz) and then manufactured as "no-name" dvds. this means that the dvds aren't bootlegs (unless you can actually see the laser printed VD labels), they're just imported versions of the english dubbed american versions. they have all the same features, just not the brand-name. let me know if you have any other questions about anime like that one. and if you are still looking for other anime, please visit my site.

This is a new one for me. Bootleggers legitimizing their business. And he put in a plug for himself while he was at it. If you want to see the post in its original form, here's the link. I post as miryoku on there.

More My-HiME ramblings

^_^;; Okay, so I started writing with the idea of organizing my thoughts, then realized I couldn't remember everything that had happened and the sequence of events so it turned into an episode summary. While working on the summary it occured to me that I should jot down brief characters sketches as well, and in the midst of doing that, I thought a pictorial representation would be helpful.

This is typical of my non-existent attention span.

雪の花 - 中岛美嘉 | Yuki no Hana - Nakashima Mika

Another request:
Yuki no Hana [Karaoke PV] - Nakashima Mika

Even though the lyrics aren't so bad, she looks so freakin' sad in that video... Let's just say it didn't improve my mood. >_<

Watched Gankutsuou ep. 19 and my heart just about bled out. I'm starting to think I should just wait 'til the DVDs come out so I can watch it straight through instead of this slow weekly torture.

And knowing what any reader of The Count of Monte Cristo knows about Andrea, it's rather disturbing to watch him with either of the Danglars women. o_O

Dreamings...

I woke at 4 AM this morning from a rather odd dream. [info]kaoru_kamiya22 and [info]otah were in it, as was Akkun. We were sitting in a restaurant in Tokyo. Otah-san had a huge bag full of yaoi manga, drama CDs, and one giant life-size poster of Morikubo Showtaro. Kaoru-san had a similar bag but hers was filled with Prince of Tennis merchandise. Akkun had all the receipts and looked like he didn't know whether he should laugh or be disapproving.

Then a group of seiyuu from Gundam SEED Destiny entered. (I know... Of all the anime, why GSD? ^_^;; ) Somehow we all ended up crammed into a booth. Ishida Akira sat next to the window, with Otah-san beside him, then Seki-sama (Toshihiko), me (Seki-sama XD), Hoshi Souichirou, Seki Tomakazu, and Sakamoto Maaya. On the opposite side of the table, starting from the inside again, were Suwabe Junichi, Kaoru-san, Koyasu Takehito, Suzumura Kenichi, Okiayu Ryoutarou, Tanaka Rie, and Kuwashima Houko. Akkun sat at the end of the table, near all the female seiyuu.

Eventually, Otah-san asked someone (don't remember who) if they knew "Shou-chan" and they replied that if they left right away she'd be able to meet him... So Otah left. XD

And that's all I remember. ^_^

More Berserk to come? o_O

According to this Media Blasters panel report on AoD;

"Berserk second season has a very good chance of happening, but the author doesn't believe that enough story has been done yet in the manga for a second season. Since Berserk did so well in Europe and the US, as long as the author doesn't lose interest in more anime, it should come eventually."

A second season of Berserk would make me a very happy girl.

Other tidbit of note is that it sounds as though MB is looking for more yaoi to license. XD

And yes, [info]kissthecajun, your recent ravings about Otogizoushi have caused me to put Zen and Ashita wa Kyou to Onaji Mirai on repeat. I'd add the two EDs to my playlist too, but I don't have them.

げんしけん

Wow, two licenses I'm really excited about in the span of a week: Naruto and now Genshiken! Media Blasters announced it at Katsucon this weekend, and added that they "might" have Kujibiki Unbalance as well. I wonder what Kohsaka finds so interesting about the OVA that he can't even stop watching it during coitus. XD

Moon on the Water...

Don't worry, I'm not feeling particularly sentimental or poetic this early in the morning.

The subject's a reference to the anime/manga BECK. Moon on the Water is one of the insert songs. An Engrish insert song performed by Sowelu. I had trouble sleeping unfortunately not because of dreams of certain male seiyuu, so I decided to write down the lyrics - or rather, what I could figure out of it. Feel free to correct me - I just guessed in parts.

Moon on the Water lyrics )

While I was trying to clear up some HD space, I came across some old pics of my anime/manga collection from September 2003. Hard to believe it's grown so much from three DVD racks to the four large bookcases I have now.

My favourite pieces are still my "Portrait of Pirates" figures though. I can't wait to add Ace, Vivi, and Tashigi next month.
Big image file here! )

Btw, I made this entry mostly to test myself on whether I remembered all the html I'd managed to learn since starting LJ. ^_^;; That's all of it: bold, italic, strikethrough, links, & images.

Yes. I am slow. XD

[Edit: Just learnt how to do LJ-cuts since a friend was kind enough to remind me to use them! m(_ _)m ]

Another year older and none the wiser...

That's right, in a little over an hour, it'll be my birthday. I know, my profile says my birthday's February 25th, but the one my family celebrates is the tenth day of the first lunar month, which happens to fall on February 18th this year.

What did Regal say about women in Tales of Symphonia? Something about them worrying about age when they hit twenty-five? XD I'm not so much worried as resigned to still being foolish and clueless despite looking like a shrivelled prune - at least then I can blame it on old age.

We had a lot of snowfall today. The temperature rose, then dropped again, causing melted puddles of snow to refreeze and create accidents waiting to happen. I parked my car outside my workplace, stepped out and whoosh my feet went out from under me. Naturally there were a few coworkers around to witness my klutziness live. So I picked myself up, brushed myself off, and catalogued my injuries: a sore ankle, a bleeding hand, and a bruised pride. ^_^;; Oh well. Sometimes, you just have to laugh at yourself.

When life gives you lemons... make sure you have some tissues handy. (Sorry, bad fangirl/fanfic joke.) XD

I watched Gokusen ep. 6 today. The J-drama, not the anime. I need to figure out who plays Sawada Shin. He was also in Kimi wa Petto! Apparently Gokusen is actually in its third season in Japan now. I've got a lot of catching up to do.

A quick stop at the mailbox and I was rewarded with four packages - all DVDs: Fullmetal Alchemist vol. 1 w/ Tin, Here is Greenwood (which I've had on order for almost half a year now!), Human Crossing vol. 1, R.O.D the TV vol. 5, and Sister Princess vol. 3. After updating my DVD Profiler, I realized that I have 879 titles... and 60+ more discs on order.

Every so often, I get the urge to start tossing stuff that I know I won't watch like... Amazing Nurse Nanako. As a hetero female, there is nothing at all appealing to me about a girl in a revealing maid/nurse uniform with torpedo-shaped boobs. I wonder if Inoue-sama would find that provocative. Obviously, my brother did since he's the one who wanted it.

Okay, my arm hurts so I'm going to nuke a heat pack, then go to bed. ^_^
